Here at SNOOSC the club members are always the most important focus within our organisation, however we also recognise the needs of their Families, Parents and Carers. Our ‘Short Breaks’ service is a valued and often difficult to find service in our local community as many other settings require parents to stay with their member. By enabling parents to leave their child with us for the day and take a ‘short break’ we are hoping to make this service more accessible within the local area.
SNOOSC offers a unique ‘one-to-one’ service for all of our members, this means that your child will be assigned a member of staff for the day to make sure they fully benefit from the session. In some cases we are also able to provide a 2:1 service if this is deemed necessary.
SNOOSC offers a full intimate care service, our staff are specially trained and fully DBS checked and as such are able to assist members in toileting and to provide changes for those members who require this service.
We provide snacks/refreshments for all of our clubs. After-school club are provided with a snack and a drink half way through the session to bridge the gap between lunch and getting home. Saturday and Holiday club, we require that the parents/carer send a packed lunch in with their member, and we will often provide snacks and drinks throughout the day. There are days that we provide buffet or picnic food if we are having a ‘theme day’ or party, but parents/carers will always have notice of this when booking their child in. We will attempt to accommodate all allergies and dietary requirements where practical.
During our specialised after-school club we often take trips out to the local park if the weather is nice. Throughout our specialised holiday clubs, we aim to take trips to theme parks, the zoo, restaurants, bowling, swimming and during the summer, the beach. Our specialised Saturday club is divided in to two groups (Pearson 8-14 year olds, and Kelly 15-25 year olds), the Pearson club occasionally access the local park, and once a month the Kelly club have the opportunity to access the local community through shopping or other arranged activities with the aim to build on their social, emotional and independence skills.
We aim to offer as wide a variety of on-base activities as possible, these include an assortment of bikes, trikes and scooters, a ball pond and other sensory equipment. We often do various messy craft activities and sensory circuits. We have recently started promoting healthy eating by having our members make fruit kebabs, sundaes, and smoothies with support from staff. Within sessions, we endeavour to provide activities that every club member enjoys and can feel confident in doing, we often modify many of the activities we do in order to incorporate everyone.
